Dear Parents and Community
Members,
As we move through November, the busy pace in District 57
continues. This month we anticipate receiving reports regarding our enrollment
projections for the years ahead and what impact that will have on our district.
November also brings forward our financial projections, and this year, a
multi-year financial plan that is integrated with the financial projections.
These items should provide the Board of Education with the information
necessary for future goal setting and planning. After receiving these reports,
the Board of Education will proceed to review and discuss the recommendation
for possible action. As always, our intent is to provide the best possible
learning environment for District 57 students.
Speaking of our educational programs, there is more good news to share with you! Mount Prospect was recently named the best community in America in which to raise children by Business Week magazine! While many factors for this distinction were cited, the local schools were highlighted for their excellent work. Prospect High School received a major mention in the article, but obviously District 57 played a salient role in preparing these students for a successful Prospect experience. Congratulations to all District 57 parents, and to the entire Mount Prospect community for such a prestigious accolade. Performance at this level does not occur without solid efforts from all of our district stakeholders to make student attendance and achievement a priority in Mount Prospect. Following on the heels of our Blue Ribbon Award, it has been quite a fall season in District 57.
Our student athletes continue our “Tradition of Excellence” with their strong performance in the sectional, regional and state cross country competitions last month. We are honoring these student athletes at the November 20th Board of Education meeting.
Please look for information regarding the wide variety of District 57 out-reach activities, events, and updates on our web site at www.dist57.org. We will make every attempt to refresh our information as often as possible to provide you with the most pertinent insights into our work with the world’s greatest students.
Our appreciation also goes out to those who have participated in our many fall events to date. Your time and participation is greatly appreciated! We know that you will have very productive and meaningful parent/teacher conferences this month, a very important happening. Please let me take this opportunity to wish you and your family the very best Thanksgiving holiday!
As always, thank you for your support of District 57.
Sincerely,
Bruce R. Brown Ed.D.
