Mission Statement:
Our
mission is to ensure that all students achieve their full potential.
Students will acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of life-long
learners to become contributing citizens of a global society. Students
will be educated in a nurturing environment that reflects the common
goals of our local community.

57 shall provide an exceptional and comprehensive elementary school
education for all its students.The district will achieve success by
building partnerships with all stakeholders in the education process --
students, parents, staff, and the community.The district will operate
in a fiscally responsible manner with an atmosphere of high trust and
effective communication.
Academic Statement:
District 57 will continue as one of the top achieving elementary districts in Illinois as indicated by maintaining our student performance on the annual ISAT assessment to rank within the top 5% of school districts. Our intermediate goal is to increase our ranking of the 91st percentile on overall testing for the 2008 testing cycle.

District 57 Community and Schools
Serving over 2,000 pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students in and around the central business district of Mount Prospect, Illinois, Mount Prospect Public School District 57 encompasses 4.3 square miles, including approximately 10,000 households. A map of District 57 attendance boundaries is available on our web site.
District 57 operates four schools: Westbrook School for Young Learners, Fairview
Elementary School, Lions Park Elementary
School, and Lincoln Middle School.
Students attend Westbrook for our Early Childhood program, Before and After School program and Kindergarten. Students from Fairview and Lions Park attend middle school at Lincoln, and upon graduation from eighth grade, most District 57 students
attend Prospect High School in
Township High School District 214.
District
57 Students
Student enrollment for the 2007-08 school year is 2,019 students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. With our most recent enrollment numbers, the District 57 student population has increased for the twentieth straight year. We have added sections at both our elementary buildings and are maintaining an average class size of 22 students at those buildings. Projections predict a fairly stable enrollment pattern during the next decade.
District 57 Employees
District 57 employs approximately 170 certificated employees (teachers and administrative staff), and 130 support personnel. The Mount Prospect Education
Association, a local association affiliated with the Illinois Education Association
and the National Education Association, is the bargaining unit representing
teachers in District 57.
