Westbrook Transportation Registration 2006-2007
Anywhere you register you will be asked what your address is. This is to determine whether or not you have to pay a fee for the bus. These boundaries are determined by a professional survey firm. Professional survey maps are available for review if you have any questions.

Bus
transportation is offered to all elementary and middle school students.
Our goal is to provide transportation to everyone who wishes to ride
the bus. However, requests for transportation are granted only if
there is enough room on the bus. If there are more requests than
available seating, transportation is assigned on a priority basis.
After registering, allow two business days to process requests. You
will be notified by the transportation office of your child or
children’s start date and route information.
As professional school bus drivers and parents ourselves we understand the mixed emotions you may feel about registering your child for the school bus. This should be an exciting time for you and your child. If you have any questions that were not answered below, or on May 8th and need some additional information, feel free to contact me or my secretary at (847) 394-7360 or e-mail: Vince Ramirez vramirez@dist57.org.
All students have assigned seats on the bus.
If assigned A.M Session – 8:00 a.m. pick up, 11:00 a.m. take home
1. Beginning at 8:00a.m.- All A.M. students will need to wait at the designated stop assigned
by the transportation office. These stops are located at nearby corners with all the other
children in the neighborhoods.
2. Between 11:05a.m. and 11:30a.m.-Students will be dropped off at the same corners theywere picked up at during the morning routes. It is imperative that an adult be at the bus corner to receive their child. If no adult is at the corner the bus driver will radio into the office, and continue with the bus route. The bus driver will attempt to drop off the child once more. If the adult is still not there, the child will be returned to school.

your neighborhoods. It is imperative that students are waiting at their designated
corner stops. Students running down the block to catch a bus are at risk of not being seen by the bus driver. Students risk being hit or run over by the school bus, or other vehicles if they trip and fall trying to run after a bus.
2. Beginning at 2:30p.m. The P.M. bus routes will begin dropping off students at their
designated stop assigned by the transportation office. These stops are located at nearby
corners with all the other kindergarten children in the neighborhood. It is imperative that an adult be at the bus corner to receive their child.

Bus Stops
On
our registration form you may request a bus stop. When building bus
routes we have to taking into consideration several things.
1. Is the bus stop in a safe place for children?
2.
Can all of the stops be picked up and dropped off in a timely manner?
(children are not on the bus too long or is the bus going to get to
school late)
3. The bus is not overcrowded?
4. Does the bus route
make sense or flow well? (the bus route doesn't drive around the block
several times picking up all the stops)
Considering safety bus
stops are arranged so that no child will have to walk more than two
blocks. Bus routes before school and after school only make corner bus
stops. The only door to door service we provide is for Kindergartners
bus routes in the middle of the day or our special need bus routes.
Please click on those links to find out about transportation for those
programs.
Bus Stop Assignments
Once you have been notified which stop your child or children will be using that is the only bus stop that your child must use unless they have a signed note from their parents/guardians. At Lincoln these notes need to be brought to the office for transportation to approve. These notes need to be picked up by the student before the board the bus at 3:04p.m. At Fairview and Lions Park these notes need to be turned into the teachers who bring them to the office. These notes are then given to the bus monitors to give to the bus drivers. Bus drivers will not let children off the bus without these notes.
If your child would like another student to ride home with them on their bus route both students must be bus riders to do so. Children who are not registered to a regular bus route are not permitted to ride the school bus for insurance purposes. If they are registered riders they need to follow the same procedures as in the above paragraph. This is in case of an emergency the bus driver knows there is a student aboard their bus that is not listed on their route sheets. Children that do not have notes or permission will only ride their regular bus routes and get off at their regular stops. The notes that are written should be in the parent’s/guardian’s writing. Please make sure the note has your child’s full name and, what route they ride regularly. The note should also include which child they are riding home with and their regular route number. These procedures are in place for your child or children’s safety and to help us keep track of who is riding our buses. This privilege is subject to space availability.
