Transportation Registration Lincoln, Lions Park and Fairview
2007-2008 School Year
Anywhere you register you will be asked what your address is. This is to determine whether or not you have to pay a fee for the bus. These boundaries are determined by a professional survey firm. Professional survey maps are available for review if you have any questions.

Fees are based on Board Policy280, which states that all fees shall cover the costs, or a portion there of, associated with providing textbook, materials, instruction, extra-curricular and transportation programs. Fees may increase or decrease each school year based on changes in such factors as cost and program design.
Bus transportation is offered to all elementary and middle school students. Our goal is to provide transportation to everyone who wishes to ride the bus. However, requests for transportation are granted only if there is enough room on the bus. If there are more requests than available seating, transportation is assigned on a priority basis. After registering, allow two business days to process requests. You will be notified by the transportation office of your child or children’s start date and route information.
Paying for the bus
If it is determined that you must pay a fee for the bus your fee is due before your child or children’s first ride. If you are registering before the school year starts the fee is due before July 7th. Reduction of fees are provided if paid before July 7th . If you find it a hardship to pay the fee in full , a deferred payment plan of four equal payments of a quarter of the full fee plus $5 per payment convenience processing fee, due ON THE FIRST OF THE MONTH. In fairness to others, non-payment of fees on the scheduled dates, however, will result in our inability to provide continued transportation services for your child until full payment is received. To arrange a payment plan contact the Transportation Office. Please refer to the fee schedule below.

Bus Stops
On our registration form you may request a bus stop. When building bus routes we have to taking into consideration several things.
1. Is the bus stop in a safe place for children?
2. Can all of the stops be picked up and dropped off in a timely manner? (children are not on the bus too long or is the bus going to get to school late)
3. The bus is not overcrowded?
4. Does the bus route make sense or flow well? (the bus route doesn't drive around the block several times picking up all the stops)
Considering safety, bus stops are arranged so that no child will have to walk more than two to four blocks. All bus routes make corner stops. Children with special needs and an IEP requiring transportation will be picked up door to door.
Bus Stop Assignments
Once you have been notified which stop your child or children will be using that is the only bus stop that your child must use unless they have a signed note from their parents/guardians. At Lincoln these notes need to be brought to the office for transportation to approve. These notes need to be picked up by the student before the board the bus at 3:04p.m. At Fairview and Lions Park these notes need to be turned into the teachers who bring them to the office. These notes are then given to the bus monitors to give to the bus drivers. Bus drivers will not let children off the bus without these notes.
If your child would like another student to ride home with them on their bus route both students must be bus riders to do so. Children who are not registered to a regular bus route are not permitted to ride the school bus for insurance purposes. If they are registered riders they need to follow the same procedures as in the above paragraph. This is in case of an emergency the bus driver knows there is a student aboard their bus that is not listed on their route sheets. Children that do not have notes or permission will only ride their regular bus routes and get off at their regular stops. The notes that are written should be in the parent’s/guardian’s writing. Please make sure the note has your child’s full name and, what route they ride regularly. The note should also include which child they are riding home with and their regular route number. These procedures are in place for your child or children’s safety and to help us keep track of who is riding our buses. This privilege is subject to space availability.
Activity Buses for Lincoln
District 57 provides activity buses for students that are in after school activities. Central Rd.
is the North/South dividing line through our district. We have a North and a South
activity bus. Since there are only two buses the bus stops are spread out to accommodate all activity bus riders. Students riding the activity bus will need to meet in the commons area after their activities end. They will sign in with the activity bus supervisor for which activity bus they will be taking. These records help us keep track of who is riding the activity buses in case of an emergency. Activity bus routes leave Lincoln JH promptly at 4:10p.m. All students will be dropped off between 4:15p.m. – 4:45p.m. A copy of the current activity bus routes is provided for you to share with your child so you may come to an agreement on which stop they will be using. Extra copies are also available in the Lincoln JH office.
If your child stays after school for sports, clubs or any other school supervised activities they are eligible to ride the afternoon activity bus. There is no fee for this bus but your child must be in a supervised after school activity. Children who are not in supervised after school activities are not eligible to ride the 4:10 activity bus.
