Technology Plan 2007-2010 Vision
This is the Vision Statement for our technology plan as finalized at TAC meetings in the winter of 2006. Comments from the meetings are posted.
Technology is a means to expand and contribute knowledge. In our vision, the students and staff of District 57 will have the methods and means available to safely interact with the world beyond their physical environment. Providing an open extended learning experience for our children, educators, families and the community, with robust communications capabilities, is an important prerequisite. Connecting our students electronically to information is essential to their success. Engaging collaborative teams of students, staff, and experts, within and beyond District 57’s geographical boundaries, will be an every day part of their educational experience. We are obliged to teach our students the proper etiquette of cyber-citizenship in the ever-changing social environment.

I like the statement! I would have liked to see somewhere in there two more words (and SAFE) pertaining to the i-safe initiative, but at this point, I can't see where we can insert it, and as I said earlier, it looks good.
I would expand the "safety" concept as follows:
"Teaching our students the proper safety, secruity, and etiquette in the ever changing 21st century social environment is an important consideration."
I am not sure where this would be inserted, but this is of considerable concern for at lease the next 5 years.
