Myths Related to the Flexible Service Delivery System


Myth #1: The goal of Flex is to have others do the job of the special educators.

All resources are used to determine what to teach and how to teach it. All staff is in it together to help all students.



Myth #2: It takes more time to get help for students.

Interventions matched to students' needs are delivered sooner rather than later.



Myth #3:
This is just another way to get special education services.

Special education services could be one outcome. However the goal is to help all students experiencing learning difficulties using all resources available. The intent is to help students early and efficiently.



Myth #4: The floodgates of special education will open and there will be a substantially greater number of students in these programs.

The number of students determined to be entitled for special education services will remain approximately the same.
