The Circle of Friends Program is:

• A District 57 operated preschool program that includes children with and without special needs
• Taught by a certified early childhood teacher and certified assistants in collaboration with a speech-language therapist
• Structured using developmentally appropriate practices that emphasize cognitive, language, social and emotional growth
• A naturalistic early childhood environment where children imitate and learn play and social skills
• A program that recognizes children as active leaders

Components of Circle of Friends:

• Center-based learning which promotes kindergarten readiness
• Children explore and discover their world using a variety of developmentally appropriate materials and experiences
• Structured play activities which develop social and problem solving skills as well as cooperative learning
• Parent education is an integral and on-going part of the program
